View a folder without signing in

In folder settings, there's an option called “Members need to log in to view the folder”. Setting it to "No" enables read-only access to your folder for people who are not signed in.

If the folder admin has set Members need to log in to view the folder to No, anyone who follows a link to your folder will see this view:

The folders files are displayed. The folder owner's logo appears in the top right-corner. A banner is displayed across the top that says: "You are not signed in. Sign in for free to add comments to documents." There is a "Sign in" button to the right of the message.

Without signing in, they'll be able to read the files in the folder.

They must sign in to add comments and modify the files. The following actions will only be available to users who have signed in:

  • Add comments to files

  • Download files

  • Add new file versions

  • Delete files

  • Copy files

  • Cut files

  • Share files to a group

Note 1: The “Folder activities” only records people who have signed in.
Note 2: There is no equivalent option in groups. People must always sign in.
