Prevent Workshare 9 from restarting the computer during MSI installation

Learn how to prevent Workshare 9 from restarting the computer during MSI installation.


Scenario

  1. Extract MSI files from the Professional 9 .EXE - Please click here to find out more.
  2. Package the installation using your chosen method.
  3. Execute installation on designated machine.
  4. Notice that a restart of the computer is required or automatically occurs (which you may wish to prevent).

Resolution

You can use the appropriate following command as part of your installation to prevent the machine from restarting:

"<path to Workshare.Professional.msi>" MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL=Disable REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qb
OR
"<path to Workshare900-Update.msp>" MSIRESTARTMANAGERCONTROL=Disable REBOOT=ReallySuppress /qb

Please note that if the restart has been suppressed, the computer will need to be rebooted at some point before the Workshare installation is 100% complete.

Workaround

Allow the computer to be rebooted when requested.
