What's the difference between Workshare's Protect desktop and Protect Server products?

Find out the key differences between Workshare Protect desktop and Workshare Protect Server.

Both Workshare Protect desktop and Workshare Protect Server provide content risk protection through comprehensive metadata cleaning and conversion to secure PDF.
  • Protect Server:
    • Is a server-side component connecting to Exchange through a hub transport agent.
    • Is part of a setup where all processing is done centrally in a couple of load-balanced servers after the user has sent the email. There is no user interaction during email send.
    • Supports email from any device within the corporate network (including mobile devices and webmail).
    • Includes functionality to update the Sent Items folder with the cleaned/processed copy to reflect the version that the recipient received.
  • Protect Desktop:
    • Includes a Windows desktop component and an Outlook add-in.
    • Is part of a setup where all processing is done before the email leaves the user’s Outlook. The user can interact with the tool while sending email.
