Prevent metadata cleaning when using the Protect Profiles (Professional/Protect 7-8)

If you're using...

Workshare Professional/Protect 7-8
 
  1. Close any open Microsoft Office applications (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Microsoft Outlook.
  2. Open the Workshare Configuration Manager in Administrator Mode:
    1. Go to Start.
    2. Click Programs.
    3. Click Workshare.
    4. Select Workshare Configuration (User Mode). The Workshare Configuration Manager will open.
    5. Select Launch Administrator Mode.
  1. Deselect the cleaning options:
    1. From the Protection category, select Administration.
    2. If you don't have Outlook 2007 or later, go to step 3-iii. If you do, select Enable Secure File Transfer when sending emails.
    3. Deselect Show Default profile in Protect Profile dialog.
    4. To prevent the user from changing the settings, click the lock icon beside each option you selected.*
  2. Click Apply.
  3. Close the Workshare Configuration Manager.
  4. In Windows Explorer, locate the user's profile:
    1. For Windows XP, go to: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Workshare\Protect Enterprise\PolicySets
    2. For Windows 7, Vista, go to: C:\ProgramData\<username>\Application Data\Workshare\Protect Enterprise\PolicySets
  5. Delete each folder that's there: Clean, Clean & PDF, and Clean & Send Link.
  6. In Windows Explorer, locate the roaming profile:
    1. For Windows XP, go to: C:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\Workshare\PolicySets\ClientProfiles
    2. For Windows 7, Vista, go to: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Roaming\Workshare\PolicySets\ClientProfiles
  7. Delete each folder that's there: Clean, Clean & PDF, and Clean & Send Link.

*Unless you lock a preference, the user will be able to change it for their user profile via the user mode of the Workshare Configuration Manager.
