- Login to the Protect Server and go to Services. Locate the Protect Server services, all starts with ‘Workshare Protect Server…’
- Note the user who is running these services, this is the Protect Server service account.
- Go to Active Directory Users and Computers and search for the Protect Server service account user.
- Depending on your scenario: rename the account, create a new account or reset the password for this user. Make sure the ‘User must change password at next logon’ option is not selected and ‘Password never expires’ option selected under the user’s properties.
- If you created a new user in step 4 make sure it’s a member of the same groups as the original user. Also make sure the new user has the same rights on the Protect Server machine (Log on as a service, Act as part of the operating system) and has access to the SQL database.
- Go back to ‘Services’ on the Protect Server, right click on the first Workshare Protect Server service where the user is NOT ‘Local System’ and select ‘Properties.
- Go to the ‘Log On’ tab and update the username and/or password.
- Repeat step 6 and 7 for all Workshare Protect Server services where the user is NOT ‘Local System’
- Open IIS Manager on the Protect Server and go to ‘Application Pools’
- Right click on ‘ProtectServer’ application pool and select ‘Advanced Settings…’. Edit the ‘Identity’ entry. Update the username and password and Click ‘OK’.
- Right click on ‘ProtectPortal’ application pool if listed in IIS and select ‘Advanced Settings…’. Edit the ‘Identity’ entry. Update the username and password and Click ‘OK’.
- Restart IIS.
- Restart all Protect Server services.
Alternatively you can reboot the Protect Server after the user/password update.
